Life at Dashwood School continues to be simultaneously both exciting and calm! Our children continue to make us proud every day by their fantastic commitment to their learning and their exemplary behaviour in and around school. News of some interim arrangements
Dashwood School has been asked to provide some support for Harriers Ground School in the current absence of their Headteacher. I will be spending time there in an 'interim' Headteacher role; in my absence, Amy Hattersley, who is a very experienced deputy head, will deputise for me as acting Headteacher at Dashwood School. If your child turns 3 before April 2013, make sure you fill in an application form and apply for their Nursery placement as soon as possible.

Stories from Billy Bob Buttons

30 APRIL
Years 3 to 6 took part in Literacy workshops led by the author Billy Bob Buttons. The children had a wonderful time hearing tales from his stories and learning tips for how to be a good writer. Liam Cooper in Year 3 said, "I learnt that myths can get bigger and bigger and that makes them fun to tell." Reece in Year 5 said that "it was exciting."

What a truly enjoyable time we had watching as a whole school, the acts that were selected from the Dashwood's Got Talent heats. The pupils had practised hard and were genuinely entertaining; the audience was supportive and appreciative. Read more..

Art and RE Curriculum Enrichment Day

This was a wonderful day with pupils working, as they do on these special days, in mixed age house groups. They worked together to construct places of worship – including a church, a mosque, a Buddhist shrine and a Hindu temple; they painted fantastically colourful banners depicting 'what makes us happy', they made beautiful 'stained glass' windows and they produced some very attractive aboriginal artwork.
