From the Headteacher
Life at Dashwood School continues to be simultaneously both exciting and calm! Our children continue to make us proud every day by their fantastic commitment to their learning and their exemplary behaviour in and around school. As a result pupils are making really excellent progress in their learning. Preparation for Year 6 SATs has been underway for some time, with all pupils keen to do their very best.
Last term we focused pupils' efforts on memorising times tables; it was fun to watch the different ways that children use to make them stick in their memories. Magic Maths is having a magical effect on enjoyment of the subject – children tell us they love playing the games that are such a strong feature of our specially designed programme. Read more...

Another first for Dashwood - the Dashwood Ramble!
All pupils in Years 4 - 6, along with staff and some willing volunteers took part in a five-mile circular walk beginning at Wroxton, taking in the Wroxton Follies and a visit to the wonderful civil war stronghold - Broughton Castle. We came back via North Newington village. Read more...
Young Detectives
Dashwood School pupils helped to solve a dastardly crime during their Science Enrichment Day.
It seems that robbers tried to make off with computer equipment and PCSO Rob Bliss came into assembly and asked for pupils' help in solving the crime. They used finger-printing techniques, made photo-fit pictures from witness statements, made judgements about the height of the suspect from the size of his footprint and had a lot of fun in the process.

Children's Book Week
Pictured here are our dressing up competition winners to celebrate Children's Book Week - Mr Bump, Baby Bear, Knights in Shining Armour, Moody Margaret (from Horrid Henry) and two pirates (shiver m' timbers) and of course, Puck from A Midsummer Night's Dream. It was our first turn out ever with everyone dressed as their favourite character, including the staff. We spotted Wally, the Cat in the Hat, Cinderella, Titania and Alice and many other favourite characters.

Children in Need
Dashwood School raised a wonderful £509.01 for Children in Need - a great effort for a small school!
Festival of Lights Party
Dashwood School celebrated a great Ofsted inspection in style. Our Festival of Lights party was a huge hit with children, parents and staff alike and gave us the chance to come together for Eid, Diwali, Christmas and Hannukah. There was fantastic food, thanks to parents and staff who brought in all kinds of treats. Each child got a wonderfully sticky toffee apple, which they took outside for the finale to the party: a magnificent firework display. It was a brilliant evening and we have decided it will now be on our Dashwood calendar as an annual event. Photos

Celebration Assemblies
We hold regular Celebration Assemblies where children are nominated for their contribution to the school. More photos...
